Vinnie Fodera

Fodera Guitars LLC. Sunset Park, Brooklyn, New York, USA

Vinnie Fodera, together with his founding partner Joey Lauricella, is one of the big names in the bass building scene. Their company Fodera Guitars stands for premium basses at the highest level. High craftsmanship meets the finest materials. The result are instruments of the extra class that are not intended as jewellery, they want to be played. Endorsers like Victor Wooten and Anthony Jackson prove this impressively. Vinnie, Joey and the sympathetic Fodera team are now based in the historic Bush Terminal building in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, now known as Industry City, and build their basses with a view of the New York skyline.
First the standard variants find their way into my program. Like the custom shop instruments, the standard basses are made on the same work benches as the expensive custom shop instruments, pass through the same hands, but are offered with less options and finishes.

Push it to the limit

Vinnie Fodera understood like no other already in the early days of bass construction to build signature basses and to bring them close to the fan communities of well-known bassists. One of these great bass players is Victor Wooten. His distinctive Yin Yang bass, based on the Monarch model, is the showpiece bass of the New York-based bass company. The bass comes in an impressive Yin Yang design. At the standard model the Yin Yang symbol is integrated into the finish, in the fingerboard you find the white dot of the black Yin half. In the custom models the symbol is made of Pau Amarillo and ebony, but no difference is made in the electronics and the pickups. Mike Pope’s 3-band preamp and EMG pickups complete the wooten sound.
Victor would be proud.

The Emperor 5 Standard is a further development of the well-known Fodera Monarch. It combines playing comfort with outstanding sound characteristics and makes the bass sound universally useful, whether in live operation or in the studio. The 5A Flamed Maple top in combination with the ash body delivers tight, deep bass with well defined mids and enough treble to complete the sound. Seymour Duncan pickups and low-noise Mike Pope 3-band electronics are also used here, exactly like in the custom models. The electronics developed by Mike Pope allow you to individually adjust the sound from deep and rich to high and punchy and is good for every musical style..
